New Year's greeting card design

Issue
In recent years, New Year's greeting cards have become less popular, especially among young people in Japan.
Reasons for this shift include:

・Preference for sending greetings via email and social networking services.
・Perceived formality associated with traditional New Year's cards. Many find it easy to forget to send cards and consider them too formal.

Target
Our target audience consists of young people who are unfamiliar with sending New Year's greeting cards.

Design solution
I have designed a New Year's greeting card that breaks away from traditional formality and serves as a versatile greeting card for any occasion. In Japan, opportunities for card exchanges are limited, and the prevalence of social networking services has reduced the appeal of handwritten letters. Therefore, my design features a simple card format with an added sticker as a gift. These cards are intended for year-round use, making them suitable even if sent late for New Year's greetings. They are available in a variety of colours to cater to individual tastes. The main visual element is a character created by incorporating a face into the Japanese kanji character for "tiger."

課題
近年、日本では若者を中心に年賀状を送る機会が減ってきています。メールやSNSで挨拶をするようになった・年賀状に対して堅苦しい印象を持っている・年賀状を出すのを忘れてしまうという声が多く見られました。

ターゲット
年賀状を送る機会が少なくなっている若者

デザインソリューション
年賀状の堅苦しい印象を払拭し、メッセージカードのように使うことのできる年賀状をデザインしました。日本ではカードを送る機会自体が少なく、SNSの普及により、手紙を書くことはどこか恥ずかしい、大げさというイメージが定着しているようです。そこで、ステッカーも一緒にデザインすることでプレゼントとして送ることができるように考えました。年賀状を出すのが遅れてしまった場合でも一年中使えるシンプルなカードで、カラーバリエーションも豊富なので、好みに合わせて選ぶことができます。また、メインビジュアルのトラは漢字の寅に顔をつけ、キャラクターとして親しみを持ちやすいデザインにしました。
